This is probably the million dollar question of search!  We get asked this with every new client and every lead.

There are quite wide variations on the timescales in achieving resultes through search engine optimisation due to many different factors.  The search engines all have varying requirements and various keywords are more competitive than others.

In some circumstances a site could show results from search engine optimisation, within 48hrs of being crawled by the serach engine spiders. In other circumstances it can take upto 14 days before anything is visible.  Fully optimised results will take upto 9 months for new sites and six months for sites with highly competitve keywords.

It is advised that a search engine optimisation campaign should be undertaken for a minimum of 6 months.

The importance of search engine optimisation

Having a fantastic looking website is all well and good, but if no one visit’s because it has no listing in the organic search engine listings, what good is it?

Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) needs to be undertaken carefully and by experienced professional’s.  There are best practises to adhere to and every search engine has different requirements.  When choosing an SEO Company do it carefully! make sure that they explain exactly what they are doing in the SEO Campaign (not the specific code, but a complete outline of their intended strategy), if they do not want to explain this to you then it is safer to choose a company that will! SEO is not about secrets!, it’s about professional know-how, years of experience and hard work.

We do not suggest that your undertake your own seo campaign, it could do more harm than good! However, if you have an in-house SEO team in place then it may be advisable to hire an SEO Consultant to put advise on effective SEO Solutions and campaign management.

Remember effective search engine optimisation will increase your web site’s visibility and ultimately ROI.
